Trump to huddle with GOP leaders on Tuesday
President Trump will huddle with top GOP congressional leaders at the White House on Tuesday to discuss the legislative agenda, GOP sources familiar with the meeting said.
The list of those invited includes Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas), as well as House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.).
{mosads}The meeting comes as Hill Republicans are struggling to notch a major legislative victory for Trump. GOP senators are openly expressing doubt their chamber can pass legislation to repeal and replace ObamaCare. And Republicans in the White House and Congress are divided over key elements of a tax-reform plan.
In the coming months, Republicans will also need to raise the debt ceiling and pass a government funding bill to avert a shutdown on Oct. 1, while tackling a number of other must-do items.
Politico first reported the White House meeting.
