Pence to visit Central, South America in August

Vice President Pence is set to travel across Central and South America in August, in his second foreign trip since taking office in January.

Speaking at the inaugural Conference on Prosperity and Security in Central America, Pence announced a five-day trip to four countries: Colombia, Argentina, Chile and Panama.

“At the President’s direction, I’ll be traveling to Central and South America later this year, to continue to build on the good work that is being done at this conference,” Pence said.

{mosads}“The people of the United States have a special place in our hearts for the nations and people of Central America, especially in the Northern Triangle of Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador.”

Pence’s trip in August will aimed at reaffirming U.S. economic relationship in the region. It will mark Pence’s second trip abroad as vice president. He toured the Pacific Rim in April, on a nearly 10-day excursion that took him through South Korea, Japan, Indonesia and Australia.
