Lewandowski: ‘No White House shake-up coming’

President Trump is satisfied with his team and there will be no shake-up coming to the White House, former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said Wednesday.

“There is no White House shake-up coming,” Lewandowski said on Fox & Friends. “I don’t work in the building, but I can tell you this — the president is very happy with the team that he has.”

Speculation is swirling over the fate of White House press secretary Sean Spicer.

{mosads}Spicer has been filling the dual roles of communications director and spokesman. He has dramatically cut back on the number of press briefings he’s conducted, and the White House has been looking to add to the communications team as part of a broader reshuffling.

Spicer responded to the rumors of changes to the communications team at a Tuesday press conference, his first on-camera briefing in eight days.

“I’m right here,” he told reporters.

“But look, it’s no secret we’ve had a couple of vacancies, including our communications director. … We’ve been seeking input from people as far as what ideas they might have, we’ve been meeting with potential people that may be of service to this administration. … We’re always looking for ways to do a better job of articulating the president’s agenda and we’ll continue to have those discussions internally, and when we have an announcement of a personnel nature, we’ll let you know.”

There is speculation that Spicer could move into the communications director job full-time, with deputy press secretary Sarah Sanders replacing him as White House spokesperson.

Sanders dodged a question about that in a separate interview on Fox News on Wednesday.

“Look, we all serve at the pleasure of the president,” she said. “Right now, I’m trying to be the very best I can in the job I have.”

“I don’t think a lot of people turn the president down on anything he asks them to do,” she added.

Lewandowski said the White House is looking to give Spicer more help, but said insinuations that is part of a larger shake-up were overblown.

“Do they need more help? Of course they do,” Lewandowski said. “Sean Spicer is doing multiple jobs, communications director, press secretary, etc. He needs some more help there and they’re looking to bring those people on board. But there is no massive White House shake-up coming, it’s not going to happen. The president is very happy, he continues to win and his agenda is moving forward and he’s doing exactly what he pledged to in the campaign, which is to put America first.”
