Bloomberg: Trump has my cell, ‘hasn’t called me’

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said President Trump has his cellphone number, but hasn’t used it yet.

The influential former Democrat, who ran for office as a Republican, told The New York times he talked with Trump only once since the president’s election. He said he had a “pleasant conversation” with the president.

“He gave me his private cellphone number, and I haven’t called him,” Bloomberg told The Times.

“He has mine and he hasn’t called me,” he added.

In a recent interview with CNN, Bloomberg sought to give Trump a piece of advice.

“Stop tweeting and focus on running the government,” he said.

“If there’s an allegation, you have to have a competent independent investigation that will either find something wrong or remove the cloud. It is very difficult to govern when there’s a cloud around you,” he said. He referred to the ongoing FBI probe into alleged collusion between members of Trump’s campaign and Russian agents who sought to influence the 2016 presidential election.

Bloomberg also said earlier this month that he thinks Trump is likely to win reelection in 2020 because Democrats will be hamstrung by the deep fissures between the liberal and moderate wings of the party.
