Gingrich: Trump will be reelected, then Pence will win in 2024
Former Speaker Newt Gingrich is predicting President Trump will be reelected in 2020.
The Georgia Republican also told New York Magazine that he expects Vice President Pence to follow Trump, getting elected in 2024.
“After the Democrats went zero-for-four in special elections, the delusions and fantasies continue,” Gingrich said.
“Trump will be reelected in 2020, and Pence will probably follow him in 2024. The analogue for Trump is Andrew Jackson, not Richard Nixon.”
{mosads}Gingrich is a strong supporter of Trump and often defends the president.
After the Republican victory in Georgia’s special House election, Gingrich said the media was right that the recent congressional special elections have been a referendum on Trump.
“The news media had it right,” Gingrich said in an interview last week.
“This was a referendum on Trump. He won. The problem for the news media is they can’t come to grips with the fact that in five different specials the Republicans have won.”
He added: “And that sort of says, maybe Trump’s doing a lot better in America than he is in the news media.”
