Gingrich: Supreme Court travel ban ruling shows Trump ‘was right’
Former Speaker Newt Gingrich on Tuesday said the Supreme Court’s decision to reinstate part of President Trump’s travel ban shows Trump was “right.”
“First of all, it proves that the president in fact was right, despite all the news media attacks,” the Georgia Republican said on “Fox & Friends.”
“Second, it puts real doubt once again on the 9th Circuit Court.”
{mosads}Gingrich also said the 9th Circuit should be “profoundly overhauled.”
“It’s the most routinely overturned court in the United States. It is consistently wrong,” Gingrich said.
“And I think that we ought to have a serious look at why is the 9th Circuit so bad and what should be done to fix it.”
The Supreme Court on Monday granted the Trump administration’s request to reinstate part of the travel ban meant to temporarily block people from six predominately Muslim countries from entering the U.S.
The court also agreed to hear the government’s appeal of lower courts that had prevented the ban from going into place.
Trump, for months has fought to implement his executive order affecting travelers from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.
