Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) said on Thursday he did not expect the Trump administration to be able to implement their travel ban effectively due to a lack of competence in the White House.
“There’s no clarity and there’s unfortunately so little competence in this administration that I don’t expect that they’re going to be able to implement their travel ban well,” Bennet said on CNN’s “New Day.”
{mosads}“It’s a terribly conceived plan to begin with. It’s an absolute attack on American values and I don’t think it’s going to keep us safer. We’ll see what the Supreme Court has to say about it the fall,” he continued.
Bennet’s comments come as Trump’s travel ban will go into effect on Thursday evening.
The Supreme Court granted the administration’s request on Monday to reinstate part of the president’s travel ban that blocks individuals from six majority-Muslim nations from coming into the U.S.
The high court also agreed to hear the government’s appeal of a lower court decision that stopped the ban from being implemented originally.
The court claimed the interest in protecting national security “an urgent objective of the highest order.”
