Hundreds of protesters reportedly demonstrated against Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos in Denver, Colo., on Wednesday.
According to The Denver Post, demonstrators gathered at the statehouse to protest DeVos one day before she is slated to speak at a conference for the conservative group American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).
The Colorado Education Association reportedly lead the protest against DeVos, who is a longtime advocate for school choice. Critics of school choice argue the policy hurts public education.
Protestors said not only were DeVos’s views on school choice troubling, but they also had concerns about her views on Title IX.
Last week, DeVos’s civil rights chief suggested that 90 percent of sexual assault allegations “fall into the category of ‘we were both drunk,’ ” rather than rape.
