Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), an ethics watchdog organization, is calling on President Trump to release visitor logs from his New Jersey golf course.
CREW said in a statement that it has filed a Freedom of Information Act request for the visitor logs of meetings the president has had at the Trump National Golf Course in Bedminster, N.J.
The watchdog is requesting records from May 4 to the present.
{mosads}The group cited numerous times Trump has said he was conducting official presidential business at the golf course, including being briefed by deputy national security adviser Ricky Waddell there in June and making a telephone call to leaders of Japan and China there over the Fourth of July holiday.
“Clearly, the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster has become the ‘summer White House’ where President Trump not only golfs, but also conducts official business,” the group said.
CREW said releasing the visitor logs would “help inform the public about the outside influences to which the President is subject,” while keeping him accountable as he conducts White House affairs from the golf course.
The organization has previously sued for the visitor logs from the White House, Trump Tower and Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort after the administration announced in April that it would break with tradition and keep such logs private.
CREW previously said it will release the visitor logs for Mar-a-Lago in the fall, after the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agreed to turn over the documents by Sept. 8. The lawsuit over the White House logs is still pending, while the DHS claims not to have records for visitors to Trump Tower.
