Kushner’s White House status being used to lure Chinese real estate investors: report

Two businesses working with Jared Kushner’s family companies are still using his name to promote Chinese investment in real estate despite apologizing for it in May.

According to an exclusive CNN report, online promotions used by two Chinese companies working to find investors in Kushner Companies reference Kushner. Those promotions refer to Kushner Companies as “real estate heavyweights” and mention Kushner directly as “the celebrity of the family is 30-something ‘Mr. Perfect.’ “

{mosads}One posting by the Chinese company Qiaowai on the popular social media site WeChat suggests that President Trump supports the EB-5 program, an employment-based visa program that Kushner Companies uses to attract foreign investors.

“Even some members of Trump’s family have participated in the growth of the EB-5 program … the ‘Kushner 88’ panoramic New Jersey apartment project. … The lead developer on the now-completed project was Kushner Companies which is linked to Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner,” the post reads.

“Given this, in the Trump era, the EB-5 program is likely to receive support and be expanded.”

CNN reported that Kushner Companies responded to the report by announcing that it will send cease-and-desist letters to the companies involved.

“Kushner Companies was not aware of these sites and has nothing to do with them,” the company said in a statement to CNN. “The company will be sending a cease and desist letter regarding the references to Jared Kushner.”

In May, Kushner Companies apologized for mentioning Kushner at an investment conference in China with the same company, Qiaowai, that made the WeChat posting. A spokesperson for Kushner Companies said the remark may have been “interpreted” as a way to lure investors.

Kushner Companies “apologizes if that mention of [Nicole Kushner Meyer’s] brother was in any way interpreted as an attempt to lure investors,” a spokesperson said in May.
