Scarborough to Jared and Ivanka: Move back to New York
Joe Scarborough, host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” on Friday penned a scathing op-ed calling for Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump to quit their work in the Trump administration
Scarborough tore into the first daughter in The Washington Post op-ed, saying her recent tweet about serving “alongside” new White House chief of staff John Kelly was an example of her “entitlement.”
“The real estate heiress not only appeared to be claiming the West Wing as her territory, but she also betrayed a troubling sense of entitlement that one might expect from other billionaires’ daughters but not this one,” Scarborough wrote.
He went on, attacking Trump as “woefully unprepared,” much like her father.
{mosads}”Kelly and White House insiders know that Ivanka Trump is as ill-prepared to face the brutish realities of Washington as her father,” Scarborough continued. “And tragically, neither seems to know what they do not know.”
Scarborough also hit Kushner, Trump’s husband and a senior adviser to the president, saying that recently leaked transcripts of his conversations with White House interns was an example of his “arrogance.”
“Kushner gave Trump a fighting chance to keep the 2016 presidential race close, in the hope that lightning would strike at the right time. It did. And that’s when Kushner’s problems began,” Scarborough wrote.
“The quiet diplomacy Kusher employed so effectively during the campaign gave way to the sort of stubborn arrogance that often infects the winning side of presidential campaigns.”
Kushner, Scarborough writes, believes “he could reinvent government like Al Gore, micro manage the White House like James Baker and restructure the Middle East like Moses.”
Scarborough concluded by saying that while he does genuinely like the couple, he doesn’t believe they should be anywhere near government.
“Though my words may suggest otherwise, I genuinely like Jared and Ivanka. I also love Joey, Andrew, Katherine and Jack Scarborough. But I wouldn’t let them run my morning show any more than Trump should let his children run roughshod over White House operations,” he wrote.
“The best thing they can do for their country is to move back to New York and let professionals run the White House.”
