Trump touts work on ISIS

President Trump shared a Washington Post story about gains in the United States’ fight against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) Saturday.

“Under Trump, gains against #ISIS have dramatically accelerated” Trump tweeted, quoting the headline of the story.

The story quoted State Department official Brett McGurk as saying Trump’s push to fight ISIS has led to ISIS losing its claim to nearly a third of the land that it has gained in Iraq and Syria since 2014.{mosads}

The Washington Post has been a major target of Trump’s attacks against the media. Trump has called the newspaper the “Amazon Washington Post,” in reference to its owner and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and has slammed the publication’s reports on his administration as “fake news.”

The Post has been one of the top outlets reporting on the Trump administration, often breaking news about the investigation into Trump’s ties to Russia.
