Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci on Sunday said he thinks President Trump should have been harsher in his statement about the violent clashes at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va.

“I wouldn’t have recommended that statement,” Scaramucci said on ABC’s “This Week.”

“I think he needed to be much harsher as it related to the white supremacists and the nature of that.”

{mosads}Scaramucci also praised national security adviser H.R. McMaster for “calling it out for what it is.”

“It’s actually terrorism, and whether it’s domestic or international terrorism, with the moral authority of the presidency, you have to call that stuff out,” he said.

Trump on Saturday said “many sides” were responsible for the violence in Charlottesville that led to the death of one counter-protester.

“We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides, on many sides,” Trump said at a press conference.

Trump came under criticism for not condemning the far-right groups marching in Virginia and instead criticizing violence by “many sides.”
