Carl Bernstein wants press to probe secret anti-Trump sentiment in GOP
Veteran journalist Carl Bernstein says “important Republicans” are saying privately that President Trump is “unfit” for office and urged reporters to look into how widespread those worries may be.
Bernstein took to Twitter on Tuesday to make the claims, but did not identify any specific individuals who have called Trump unfit.
He said reporters should look into how “pervasive such talk may be.”

The famous Watergate reporter’s tweets come as Trump is under fire for his response to the deadly violence in Charlottesville, Va., at a white supremacist rally over the weekend.
Trump initially blamed the violence on “many sides.” Those remarks drew condemnation from leaders in both parties. Trump readdressed the matter Monday, calling racism “evil” and singling out the KKK and neo-Nazis among other groups for organizing the rally.
Bernstein has been a vocal critic of Trump, saying last month that his administration was “dangerous beyond any modern presidency.”
The problem is not the chief of staff. The problem–dangerous beyond any modern presidency–is the president.
