Officials removed Trump-brand logos from Trump Tower before press conference
Trump officials removed Trump-branded items from Trump Tower on Tuesday ahead of the president’s afternoon press conference, according to reports.
Staff replaced a large golden lectern featuring a Trump Tower logo with a smaller lectern featuring the presidential seal and covered a sign advertising first daughter Ivanka Trump’s upcoming fashion store, which is set to open in the fall, with a large blue curtain, Politico reported.
Trump’s press conference was to discuss his executive order on infrastructure, but the conversation veered and ultimately focused on the violence in Charlottesville, Va., at a white supremacist rally over the weekend.{mosads}
The efforts to separate Trump’s family business from his presidency come after several groups have filed lawsuits against Trump claiming that his businesses have unfairly benefited from his presidency and that he has violated the Constitution.
The president met with new White House chief of staff John Kelly, economic adviser Gary Cohn, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao and a number of other advisers at Trump Tower Tuesday before his press briefing.
