Kal Penn fires back at Trump: ‘You can’t break up with us after we broke up with you’

Actor Kal Penn fired back at President Trump after the White House suggested that Trump was going to disband the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities before the members of the group resigned themselves.

“Lol @realDonaldTrump you can’t break up with us after we broke up with you,” Penn tweeted.

Penn was responding to a White House statement which said Trump recently decided to end the council.

{mosads}“Earlier this month it was decided that President Trump will not renew the Executive Order for the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities (PCAH), which expires later this year,” the statement read. “While the committee has done good work in the past, in its current form it simply is not a responsible way to spend American tax dollars.”

In a letter announcing their resignation from the council, several members, including Penn, cited Trump’s “un-American” comments on the deadly violence in Charlottesville, Va., as a reason for their decision.

They also criticized Trump for “undermining the Civil Rights act” and proposing cuts to arts funding.

“Ignoring your hateful rhetoric would have made us complicit in your words and actions,” the letter stated. “Your values are not American values.”

In another shot at Trump, the missive is written so that the first letter of each paragraph spells out the word “resist,” a reference to liberal efforts to oppose Trump.
