Trump: Bannon will be ‘tough and smart’ back at Breitbart

President Trump cheered on former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon’s return to Breitbart News on Saturday, saying in a tweet that Bannon may do “even better than before,” back at the website.

“Steve Bannon will be a tough and smart new voice at [Breitbart News]… maybe even better than ever before. Fake News needs the competition!” Trump said.

Bannon returned to Breitbart News on Friday just hours after parting ways with the White House.

Bannon has reclaimed the title of executive chairman for Breitbart and directed the outlet’s Friday editorial meeting, the website said in a statement on Friday.{mosads}

“The populist-nationalist movement got a lot stronger today,” Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow said Friday. “Breitbart gained an executive chairman with his finger on the pulse of the Trump agenda.

Trump’s tweet adds to speculation over what the relationship between Trump and Bannon will look like following his ouster from the White House.

On Friday Bannon told The Weekly Standard that Trump’s presidency is “dead,” while another Breitbart editor tweeted “#WAR,” signaling possible hostility against the Trump White House.
