Malaysian prime minister to visit White House
President Trump will meet with Malaysia’s prime minister, Najib Abdul Razak, next month, the White House announced on Wednesday.
The White House said in a statement that Razak will visit the White House on Sept. 12 to discuss how to “broaden” his country’s relationship with the U.S.
“President Trump looks forward to celebrating the 60th anniversary of United States-Malaysia bilateral relations and discussing ways to strengthen and broaden our bilateral relationship and expand regional cooperation with one of America’s closest partners in Southeast Asia,” the White House said.

Razak congratulated Trump after his win in November, saying after the call that it was “great” to reconnect with Trump.
Razak said the two talked about economic growth in his country.
“Earlier today we had a very warm and productive telephone conversation. Among other matters, we talked about economic growth in the US and Malaysia,” Najib wrote on Facebook.
The two also golfed together years ago at Trump’s Bedminster resort in New Jersey.
A Malaysian newspaper reported Razak has an autographed photo with Trump in which the future president calls Razak his “favorite” prime minister.
Razak is currently embroiled in a major scandal with thousands calling for his resignation in Malaysia. Tens of thousands of protesters took to the streets in November after Razak was accused of stealing millions of dollars from a national wealth fund.
