Kushner attends fundraiser for Freedom Caucus chair: report

President Trump’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner attended a fundraiser for Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), the chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, according to Politico.

Kushner attended the Thursday-night fundraiser in North Carolina in a private capacity, according to the report.

Meadows has been an ally to Trump in office on many key issues. But the two clashed earlier this year when Meadows pushed for changes to a House Republican bill to repeal and replace ObamaCare.

As the head of a conservative bloc, Meadows has also long clashed with Republican leaders. Lawmakers are returning to Washington next week after their August recess, with a critical month ahead. Congress must raise the nation’s debt limit, pass a government spending bill to avoid a shutdown and find money for relief efforts after Hurricane Harvey.

Meadows and Kushner have reportedly discussed Israel policy, a priority for both.

Meadows has also discussed paid family leave with Kushner’s wife, first daughter Ivanka Trump, in the past.
