Former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon said in a new interview that he will be President Trump’s “wing man outside” for the rest of his presidency.
“I’m going to be his wingman outside for the entire time,” Bannon told CBS’s “60 Minutes.”
Bannon left the White House last month to return to Breitbart News, which he helmed until joining the Trump campaign in 2016.
{mosads}Bannon said “no” when asked by Charlie Rose if he would be attacking Trump from the outside.
“No, our purpose is to support Donald Trump,” Bannon said.
“And destroy his enemies?” Rose asked.
“To make sure his enemies know that there’s no free shot on goal,” Bannon replied.
Bannon is said to have battled with national security adviser H.R. McMaster during his time in the White House.
Two days after Bannon left the Trump administration, Breitbart News attacked McMaster in an article, saying he is soft on terrorism and radical Islamic extremism.
