Trump’s portrait still missing from many federal offices

President Trump’s official portrait is missing from thousands of federal buildings across the country, The Washington Post reported Monday.

Photos of Trump and Vice President Pence are absent from the walls of laboratories, courthouses and United States embassies in other countries, the report said.

While the GPO told the Post that the White House has not sent over the pictures, the White House told the newspaper that Trump and Pence have yet to determine when they will take the portraits.

“GPO is standing by to reproduce copies of the president and the vice president’s photos for official use in federal facilities and will do so as soon as the official photo files are provided to us,” Gary Somerset, a spokesman for the GPO, told the Post.

{mosads}“I do not have a timeline on when GPO will receive those files from the White House.”

The White House said the agencies that have requested photos for the interim have received one to hang. 

“All agencies who have requested the president’s portrait have received a photo to display. We’re still in the process of creating the official portrait,” Lindsey E. Walters, a spokeswoman for the White House, told the newspaper.

“Once it’s been produced, the White House photo office will distribute it to all of the agencies and other requests.” 

The official portrait of the president is typically sent to the Government Publishing Office and then dispensed through the General Services Administration and several other agencies for display in lobbies and entranceways.

Some offices have received downloaded photos that can then be photocopied and stuck into frames. These photos often end up pixelated when made larger.

Some agencies, including the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department of Energy and the State Department do not have any photos hanging.
