Gorka: Trump’s meeting with Dems proves he’s serious about agenda

Former White House aide Sebastian Gorka on Thursday argued that President Trump’s meeting with Democratic lawmakers shows he is serious about his agenda.

“Donald J. Trump fired a torpedo into the hull of the GOP to say ‘wake up. I’m serious about what I want to do,’ ” Gorka told “Fox & Friends.”

Gorka’a comments come the morning after Trump met with Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), where the three leaders discussed the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and border security.

{mosads}“He won on an agenda of ‘make America great again,’ not ‘make the Republican Party great again,’ ” Gorka said.

While Pelosi and Schumer said they had agreed to work toward a deal to protect young immigrants and on border security, Trump said early Thursday that no deal had been reached yet on the DACA program.

Gorka, who left the White House last month, argued that Trump met with Schumer and Pelosi because he is committed not just to the Republican Party, but to the United States.

“The GOP doesn’t understand, it is a New York real estate billionaire who won. And there’s a reason for that, because they haven’t served the nation’s interest for more than a decade.”

The meeting with Schumer and Pelosi comes just one week after the president shocked Republicans by striking a deal with the Democratic leaders to fund the government for three months and raise the debt ceiling.
