Poll: Globalization supporters in US outnumber opponents by nearly 2-to-1 margin

Nearly half of Americans in a new survey say they support globalization, almost twice the number of respondents who oppose it.

According to a new Morning Consult poll for the Bloomberg Global Business Forum, 47 percent of Americans support globalization.

The poll finds just one-quarter of respondents, 25 percent, oppose the idea.

{mosads}Thirty-six percent of Americans say that globalization will help create jobs in the country, compared with 23 percent who do not.

Americans are also divided on the impact of globalization on income inequality in the country, pollsters found.

Twenty-three percent of respondents say globalization will result in more income inequality, compared to 22 percent who disagree.

A majority of Americans also supports immigration, according to the poll. Still, 51 percent of respondents say immigration poses a threat to the country’s economy.

A large majority of Americans also says they feel less safe now than they did five years ago. Seventy-two percent of respondents say they feel less safe now, compared to just 16 percent who say they feel more safe.

The poll was conducted from Sept. 12 to 14 among 2,094 adults. The margin of error is 2 percentage points.
