Pence heading to Las Vegas on Saturday after shooting
Vice President Pence is heading to Las Vegas on Saturday as the city recovers from the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
According to a White House pool report, the vice president’s office said Pence will visit the city this weekend to participate in Mayor Carolyn Goodman’s (I) prayer walk, as part of her faith initiative.

Goodman began the faith initiative in 2012 “to help change the city through faith in action,” according to the city’s website.
An online invitation first reported by local ABC affiliate KTNV states that the prayer walk will begin at 9 a.m. and will end around 1 p.m. Four walking routes will convene at Las Vegas City Hall at noon for “prayer and praise.”
A request for comment from the mayor’s office was not immediately answered.
According to the White House pool report, Pence will then travel to Indiana to attend the Sunday night match between the Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers. He will also attend two events later in the day, one on tax reform and one on the space council, in California.
Pence’s trip comes days after President Trump visited the city to meet with victims of the shooting and first responders.
