The storm — which has since been downgraded to a tropical depression — made its first landfall near the mouth of the Mississippi River in southeast Louisiana, CNN reported.
It made a second landfall early Sunday morning near Biloxi, Miss.
It comes as Trump has faced backlash for his administration’s response to the devastation wrought by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
Trump visited the island last week and has pushed back against accusations that the federal government hasn’t been doing enough to help the U.S. territory.
