Trump blames Corker for the Iran deal

President Trump went after Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) for the second time on Sunday, blaming the Tennessee lawmaker for the Iran nuclear deal.

“Bob Corker gave us the Iran Deal, & that’s about it. We need HealthCare, we need Tax Cuts/Reform, we need people that can get the job done!” Trump tweeted.

Corker, who chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is a steady GOP voice on foreign affairs and national security. The latest tweet from the president comes as Trump is reportedly planning to decertify the Iran nuclear deal, which provided Iran with sanctions relief in exchange for concessions on its nuclear program.

The remark is also the latest in a war of words between Corker and Trump on Sunday.

Trump in a Sunday morning tweetstorm argued the senator, who announced that he is retiring after his current term, “didn’t have the guts to run” for reelection and also claimed Corker sought his endorsement.

“Senator Bob Corker ‘begged’ me to endorse him for re-election in Tennessee. I said ‘NO’ and he dropped out (said he could not win without… ..my endorsement),” Trump said.

Corker quickly fired back at Trump, describing the White House as “an adult day care center.”

“Someone obviously missed their shift this morning,” Corker added.

Corker’s chief of staff, Todd Womack, said Sunday that Trump asked Corker to run for reelection, even offering his endorsement to the senator.
