Trump: ‘Policy didn’t work’ on North Korea for 25 years

President Trump on Monday said the U.S. hasn’t been successful in its handling of the North Korean threat for the past 25 years.

“Our country has been unsuccessfully dealing with North Korea for 25 years, giving billions of dollars & getting nothing,” Trump tweeted.

“Policy didn’t work!”

Trump made similar comments this past weekend, saying “only one thing” would rein in North Korea’s nuclear and missile development programs.

“Presidents and their administrations have been talking to North Korea for 25 years, agreements made and massive amounts of money paid hasn’t worked, agreements violated before the ink was dry, makings fools of U.S. negotiators,” Trump tweeted Saturday.

“Sorry, but only one thing will work!”

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Saturday dubbed his country’s nuclear weapons program a “powerful deterrent” that guarantees its sovereignty.

A recent Wall Street Journal report said after the U.S. encouraged other countries to put an end to business owned by the North Korean government, more than 20 nations have reportedly restricted operations of the North Korean government.
