State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said Tuesday that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s IQ is “high.”
“It’s high,” Nauert said at a press briefing Tuesday when pressed by a reporter on what Tillerson’s IQ was. “Anybody that can put things together, an engineer, it’s high.”
Her comments come after President Trump offered to “compare IQ tests” with Tillerson after a report emerged that the State Department head called Trump a “moron.”
{mosads}”I think it’s fake news, but if he did that, I guess we’ll have to compare IQ tests,” Trump told Forbes. ”And I can tell you who is going to win.”
Trump later said that he “didn’t undercut” Tillerson with the comment.
“I don’t believe in undercutting people,” Trump said.
The White House also said that Trump wasn’t implying that he was more intelligent than Tillerson, calling the comment “a joke.”
“He made a joke. Maybe you guys should get a sense of humor and try it some time,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Tuesday.
