Mueller to interview Trump officials, Kushner aide: report

Investigators for Robert Mueller’s special probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential campaign are expected to speak with multiple senior White House officials in the coming weeks, CNN reported Monday.

Among those expected to be interviewed are White House communications director Hope Hicks, White House counsel Don McGahn and Kushner communications aide Josh Raffel. Others are expected to be interviewed as well, CNN reported.

It was previously reported that Hicks would speak with Mueller’s team in mid-November. Hicks is a longtime associate of Trump’s who previously worked for the Trump Organization and is viewed as part of the president’s inner circle.

McGahn was said to be considering resigning his position in late September amid a flurry of new revelations related to the Russia probe.

The new set of interviews appears to show the probe moving closer to Trump and his family.

Mueller reportedly asked the Justice Department within the past month to turn over a wide array of documents. His team is particularly interested in materials relating to Attorney General Jeff Sessions’s recusal from the Russia probe and Trump’s decision to fire former FBI Director James Comey. 

Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, former campaign adviser George Papadopoulos and former Manafort associate Richard Gates were implicated in the Mueller probe last month.
