Trump: NFL ‘weak and out of control’

President Trump slammed the NFL early Tuesday, saying it was “weak and out of control” after players again protested during Sunday’s games.

“At least 24 players kneeling this weekend at NFL stadiums that are now having a very hard time filling up,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “The American public is fed up with the disrespect the NFL is paying to our Country, our Flag and our National Anthem. Weak and out of control!”

{mosads}The Associated Press reported on Sunday that 23 players protested during the national anthem at Sunday’s games.

Players have protested during the national anthem each week since Trump in September suggested the NFL fire players who choose to kneel, rather than stand, during “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Trump periodically weighs in on the NFL controversy on Twitter, writing last week that Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch should be suspended after he sat during the American national anthem but stood for Mexico’s anthem.

Trump’s latest tweet came hours before he heads to Capitol Hill during a make-or-break week for his legislative agenda.

The president will rally Senate Republicans before a crucial committee vote on tax reform and on Wednesday will travel to Missouri to promote the tax legislation.
