Trump weighs in on Matt Lauer firing: ‘Wow’

President Trump in an early morning tweet weighed in on news that longtime “Today” show host Matt Lauer was fired from NBC News after he was accused of sexual misconduct.

“Wow, Matt Lauer was just fired from NBC for ‘inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace,’ ” the president said.

“But when will the top executives at NBC & Comcast be fired for putting out so much Fake News. Check out Andy Lack’s past!”

Trump’s tweet comes after it was announced Lauer would be fired from the network after the allegation surfaced.

NBC News received a “detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer,” according to a statement by Lack, the chairman of NBC News.

“It represented, after serious review, a clear violation of our company’s standards,” his statement said.

“As a result, we’ve decided to terminate his employment.”

The president, who hosted the popular reality show “The Apprentice” on NBC for 14 seasons, did not specify any allegations against Lack.

Lack has worked at NBC on and off since 1993. In 2003, he became the chairman and CEO at Sony Music Entertainment. He rejoined NBC in 2015.

Trump often feuds with news outlets, describing negative coverage as “fake news.”

Lauer’s termination was first announced by his co-anchor, Savannah Guthrie, who read the statement from Lack on air.
