Trump: ABC should have fired ‘fraudster’ Brian Ross

President Trump said on Friday that ABC News should have fired correspondent Brian Ross after the network was forced to correct a report saying Trump had directed his former national security adviser Michael Flynn to make contact with Russian officials during the campaign. 

“Everyone get a lawyer and sue ABC News,” the president said to cheers after referring to Ross as a “fraudster.” 

{mosads}Trump made the comments at a rally in Pensacola, Fla.  

The president’s comments come a week after ABC News announced Ross would be suspended from the network for four weeks without pay. Ross incorrectly reported last week that Trump directed Flynn to make contact with Russians during the campaign. The network later corrected the report to say it was during the transition, after Trump had already been elected.

Trump quickly turned his ire on other media outlets, including CNN. 

“Did you see all the corrections the media’s been making?” the president said. 

“CNN should have been apologizing for the past two years,” he continued. 

CNN on Friday corrected a report regarding an email Donald Trump Jr. had received from WikiLeaks about accessing hacked files. 

The corrected report said Trump Jr. and other campaign officials had received an email pointing them to WikiLeaks documents on the afternoon of Sept. 14 — after they had already been made public. The original CNN report said Trump Jr. had received the email on Sept. 4, before WikiLeaks had made the documents public.
