Melania will no longer join Trump on trip to Davos: report

First lady Melania Trump will no longer join President Trump on his trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, CNN reported Monday.

The first lady’s spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, told CNN that Melania will skip the trip over “scheduling and logistical issues.”

Trump will travel to the gathering of global elites later this week. The first lady was initially set to join her husband in a show of support, Grisham said last week.

{mosads}Trump’s attendance at the forum was questionable in light of the government shutdown, but the White House said he would attend if the shutdown ended before his scheduled departure.

Trump signed a funding bill to end the shutdown Monday night.

Melanie Trump hasn’t made a public statement since The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this month that Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, made a $130,000 payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels just before the 2016 election to stay quiet about an alleged sexual encounter with Trump in 2006.

Cohen has denied the report.

Daniels, whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford, told In Touch magazine in an interview conducted in 2011 but first published last week that she had an affair with Trump after his marriage to Melania in 2005.
