McMaster knocks down departure rumors

National security adviser H.R. McMaster on Tuesday knocked down rumors he could soon leave President Trump’s staff.

“I have a job and it is my intention to go as long and hard as I can in service of the president and the nation,” McMaster told reporters when asked about his future at the White House.

McMaster called it “a tremendous honor to do this job every day.”

The national security adviser was mentioned in a recent CNN report as being on the potential list of departures this year.

McMaster, who is an active-duty Army general, has clashed with Trump on policy in Afghanistan and Iran. He reportedly has also struggled to form a personal relationship with the president.
