Trump touts economy: ‘We are on the right track’
President Trump on Sunday touted the U.S. economy and low unemployment rates, saying the country is “on the right track.”
“Our economy is better than it has been in many decades. Businesses are coming back to America like never before,” Trump wrote on Twitter.
“Chrysler, as an example, is leaving Mexico and coming back to the USA. Unemployment is nearing record lows. We are on the right track!”

{mosads}Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced earlier this month that the car manufacturer would move production of one of its trucks from Mexico to Michigan. Chrysler said it would move production of the Ram Heavy Duty truck to the U.S. and invest more than $1 billion in a Michigan plant.
“These announcements reflect our ongoing commitment to our U.S. manufacturing footprint and the dedicated employees who have contributed to FCA’s success,” CEO Sergio Marchionne said in a press release at the time.
The company cited the GOP’s tax overhaul, passed in December, as a reason for its decision.
Trump often touts the economy and stock market in tweets, sometimes arguing his policies are the reason for economic success.
“Stock market hit yet another all-time record high yesterday,” Trump said in November.
“There is great confidence in the moves that my Administration … is making. Working very hard on TAX CUTS for the middle class, companies and jobs!”
The president just returned from a gathering of the world’s elite in Davos, Switzerland, where he pitched his “America First” agenda.
“As president of the United States, I will always put America first, just like the leaders of other countries should put their country first also,” Trump said on the last day of the World Economic Forum.
“But America First does not mean America alone. When the United States grows, so does the world.”
He also touted economic growth and investment in the U.S. during his remarks.
