Trump arrives at Florida golf club as thousands rally in DC

President Trump arrived at the Trump International Golf Club in Florida as hundreds of thousands of students gathered in Washington, D.C., to call on him and Congress to act on gun control.

The president is spending the weekend at Mar-a-Lago, his private resort in Palm Beach, Fla., and went to the Trump golf club on Saturday morning, according to White House pool reports.

The White House did not say whether the president was golfing. Saturday marks the 101st day he has spent at one of his golf properties, and the 135th he has spent at one of his properties since taking office.

{mosads}Worldwide, young people and other gun control activists gathered for more than 800 separate demonstrations as part of the “March for Our Lives” in every U.S. state and on every continent except Antarctica.

In Washington, D.C., alone, more than 500,000 are expected to join the march, demanding Congressional action on gun control and school safety. The march was organized by survivors of the school shooting in Parkland, Fla., last month.

The Palm Beach Post reported that protesters in the area plan to walk Trump’s motorcade route on Saturday afternoon.

The White House released a statement Saturday morning applauding the gun violence protesters for “exercising their First Amendment rights.”
