Poll: Majority says Trump had affair with Stormy Daniels

A majority of voters in a new survey says they think President Trump had an affair with adult-film star Stormy Daniels.

A Morning Consult–Politico poll finds that 56 percent of voters said they think Trump and Daniels had an affair before Trump became president.

Another 35 percent of respondents don’t know or don’t have an opinion, and 9 percent don’t think Trump had an affair with Daniels.

More than three-quarters of Democrats said they think Trump had an affair with Daniels, and just 5 percent disagree.

Thirty percent of Republicans said they believe Trump had an affair with Daniels, compared to 16 percent who don’t think one occurred.

The poll was conducted from March 26 to 27 among 1,997 registered voters. The margin of error is 2 percentage points.

Trump and Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, are embroiled in a legal battle over a nondisclosure agreement the adult-film star said she signed barring her from talking about the alleged affair with Trump more than a decade ago.

“60 Minutes” aired its highly anticipated interview with Daniels Sunday night, during which she revealed details about the alleged affair.

She also said she was threatened to keep quiet about the affair after she agreed to discuss the relationship with a publication in 2011.

The White House on Monday hit back at Daniels’s claims.

“The president strongly, clearly and has consistently denied these underlying claims,” deputy press secretary Raj Shah said. “The only person who has been inconsistent is the one making the claims.”
