Trump: Both Easter and Passover ‘remind us that God redeems the world’

President Trump released a video address Friday in recognition of the holidays of Easter and Passover, saying that Americans “praise the Heavenly Father for the blessings of freedom and the gift of eternal life.”
“During the sacred holiday of Passover, Jewish families around the world give thanks to God for liberating the Jewish people from bondage in Egypt and delivering them to the promised land of Israel,” Trump said.
The 2018 week of Passover begins Friday, and Easter is Sunday.
{mosads}”For Christians, we remember the suffering and death of God’s only son,” Trump said, “and his glorious resurrection on the third day.”
“On Easter Sunday, we proclaim with joy: ‘Christ is risen!’ ” he added. “Both of these sacred celebrations remind us that God redeems the world.”
Last year, the White House faced criticism on social media over its handling of the White House Passover seder when it was reported that neither Trump nor family members Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, who are Jewish, actually attended the ceremony.
The tradition of hosting a Passover seder at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. began in 2009, when former President Obama hosted the first White House seder after joining one on the campaign trail the previous year.
