Wilbur Ross buys $3.2 million home in the Berkshires

Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross has reportedly purchased a $3.2 million home in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts, adding to his family’s collection of luxury residences.

Ross used a limited liability company to purchase the two-story single-family home, The Berkshire Edge reported, adding it was unclear his plans but that Ross is rumored to have bought the home for one of his two daughters.

Constructed in 1780, the estate features a greenhouse, in-ground pool and grove of old-growth trees. The region is known as a rural haven for the wealthy and is home to opulent Gilded Age-era mansions.

Ross, a wealthy trade investor and industrialist, has a net worth now valued at less than $1 billion after he said he transferred nearly $2 billion to a trust for his family before his confirmation to serve in the Trump administration. 

The shipping magnate also owns two multimillion-dollar properties in Palm Beach, Fla., just miles from President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. 

Ross has recently faced legal questions into whether he properly divested his holdings in foreign shipping companies with business connections to nations embargoed by the U.S., which could create a possible conflict of interest.
