RNC spent $225K at Mar-a-Lago Resort in March

The Republican National Committee (RNC) spent nearly $225,000 at President Trump’s private Palm Beach, Fla., resort, Mar-a-Lago, in March, according to Federal Election Commission reports.

The expenditures were mainly for rental and catering fees for a fundraiser for Trump’s 2020 reelection in early March.

The newly disclosed spending is the most money that the RNC has spent at Mar-a-Lago in a single month. In January, the RNC spent $62,700 at the Trump property.

In March, the RNC also spent nearly $30,000 in rental and catering at the Trump National Doral in Miami.

The Washington Post reported in March that the RNC had spent more than $270,000 at Trump businesses in February.

Federal Election Commission filings obtained by the newspaper showed the RNC spent the money at just two of Trump’s properties, the Trump International Hotel in Washington and the Trump National Doral Miami. Those expenditures totaled 86 percent of the RNC’s spending for February.

Trump did not sell his businesses upon taking office, instead placing them in a trust controlled by his sons. Critics have frequently hit the Trump administration for perceived conflicts of interest centered around Trump’s many properties.
