Pence to visit US-Mexico border next week: report

Vice President Pence is reportedly set to pay a visit to the U.S.-Mexico border next week.

The vice president is making a trip on Monday to the border town of Calexico, on the line between California and Mexico, CNN reported Friday.

The trip will mark the second time Pence has visited the southern border as vice president. The first time was in February, when he traveled to the border between Texas and Mexico.

The upcoming visit comes as President Trump has sought to draw attention to a so-called caravan of Central American migrants, some whom are headed to the U.S.

Trump has called on federal officials to repel any attempts by migrants to cross into the U.S.

The president also visited California in March near the Mexico border to examine prototypes for his proposed border wall.

Pence’s trip to the border will cap off a fundraising swing through California, during which he’ll join House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) in Beverly Hills and Malibu, CNN reported.
