White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders responded to comedian Michelle Wolf’s jokes about her during the White House correspondents’ dinner last week, saying the evening reflected more on Wolf than it did on her.
“I think that evening says a whole lot more about her than it does about me,” Sanders said on “Fox & Friends” on Wednesday.
{mosads}”The people who were my friends before that evening are my friends today, and I am going to continue doing the job that I came here to do every single day. I am very proud that I work in this administration for this president, and we’re going to keep pushing forward, doing everything we can to make America better,” she continued.
“We’ve had a great first year-and-a-half at doing that, a huge success story that we’re proud of, and I hope that she can find some of the same happiness that we all have, and I think she may need a little bit more of that in her life because the rest of us are doing great,” she said.
Wolf targeted Sanders last week at the dinner as the press secretary sat just feet from the comedian on stage.
“Every time Sarah steps up to the podium, I get excited. I’m not really sure what we’re going to get, you know? A press briefing, a bunch of lies or divided into softball teams,” Wolf said.
“I actually really like Sarah. I think she’s very resourceful,” Wolf added. “But she burns facts and then she uses that ash to create a perfect smokey eye. Like maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s lies.”
Wolf’s routine garnered a slew of praise and criticism from media and political figures.
President Trump lambasted Wolf as a “filthy ‘comedian’” after the dinner.
The White House Correspondents’ Dinner was a failure last year, but this year was an embarrassment to everyone associated with it. The filthy “comedian” totally bombed (couldn’t even deliver her lines-much like the Seth Meyers weak performance). Put Dinner to rest, or start over!

Wolf defended her routine on Twitter on Sunday.
Hey mags! All these jokes were about her despicable behavior. Sounds like you have some thoughts about her looks though? https://t.co/JRzzvhBuey

Why are you guys making this about Sarah’s looks? I said she burns facts and uses the ash to create a *perfect* smoky eye. I complimented her eye makeup and her ingenuity of materials. https://t.co/slII9TYdYx
