President Trump said he plans to huddle on Saturday with senior U.S. officials returning from trade negotiations in China.
In a tweet, Trump offered little in the way of details on the talks, but insisted that Beijing had “become very spoiled with U.S. trade wins.”
“Our high level delegation is on the way back from China where they had long meetings with Chinese leaders and business representatives,” he tweeted. “We will be meeting tomorrow to determine the results, but it is hard for China in that they have become very spoiled with U.S. trade wins!”

Trump’s tweet came as negotiations between senior Chinese and U.S. officials, including Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, ended without a deal to avert a trade war between the world’s two largest economies.
During the two days of negotiations, U.S. officials unveiled a sweeping list of demands, including that China reduce its trade deficit with the U.S. by $200 billion over the next two years.
The demands also include that China stop subsidizing key industries.
The possibility of a trade war between the U.S. and China has loomed since March, when the Trump administration first announced plans to impose stiff tariffs on the country. Beijing, in turn, announced its own penalties on the U.S.
Trump has previously said that a trade war with China would be “easy to win.”
