CNN’s Don Lemon: Trump trying to ‘save his presidency’ by lying about FBI informant
CNN host Don Lemon blasted President Trump on Wednesday, saying the president has repeatedly lied about an FBI informant used during his campaign in an effort to “save his presidency.”
“The president of the United States is lying to us over and over and over and over again,” Lemon said. “We’ve all seen it with our very own eyes and we’ve heard it with our own ears.”
Lemon called Trump’s latest assault against the FBI the “biggest lie of them all.”
{mosads} On Wednesday, Trump once against claimed without evidence that a “spy” was embedded in his campaign.
This isn’t just another “one-off alternative fact,” Lemon said.
“This is not just an angry president popping off,” Lemon said. “This is a deliberate and coordinated effort to save his presidency, to cast doubt on the Russian investigation by repeating a lie.”
The repetition of the lie is purposeful, the host said.
“Because if you hear him say the same thing over and over and over, it gets into your head. You may even start to wonder if there’s some truth to it. That’s exactly what the president and his allies want,” Lemon said.
Lemon said Trump is assaulting the truth daily.
“Our country is in the middle of an extreme crisis,” Lemon said. “A crisis that threatens our foundation. A crisis that threatens the values we all hold dear. A crisis created to blind us to the truth.”
