Former Fox News exec Bill Shine accepts White House job: reports

Bill Shine, the former co-president of Fox News, has accepted a job in the White House communications shop, according to multiple reports on Wednesday.

ABC reported, citing multiple sources, that Shine will join the White House as its deputy chief of staff for communications. A formal announcement is expected later this week.

Multiple outlets reported earlier Wednesday that Shine was a favorite to be hired as President Trump’s new communications director. He reportedly met with the president in recent weeks about the position.

The Hill has reached out to the White House for comment.

The communications director job has been vacant since Hope Hicks left the White House in March. Hicks was part of a broader exodus among White House staffers in recent months, which included multiple people within the communications office.

Shine resigned from Fox News in May 2017 after criticism over how he handled sexual harassment allegations made by network employees against former chairman Roger Ailes.
