Trump watching possible LA hostage situation ‘very closely’

President Trump tweeted Saturday that he was following a possible hostage situation at a Trader Joe’s in Los Angeles “very closely.”

Police later took a suspect into custody, ending the standoff hours after it began.

“Active barricaded suspect. L.A.P.D. working with Federal Law Enforcement,” Trump tweeted of the situation.{mosads}

CNN reported that an armed man had barricaded himself inside the grocery store and may have hostages.

The Los Angeles Police Department said they took a suspect into custody about an hour after the president’s tweet.

One woman was shot and killed inside the store during the standoff, according to CBS News.

The Associated Press reported that the suspect led police on a car chase after allegedly shooting his grandmother and another woman in South Los Angeles.

He then ran into the Trader Joe’s in the Silver Lake neighborhood.

There was a massive law enforcement response to the store.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti urged residents to “steer clear” of the active situation.
