‘Impeach Trump’ billboard in Georgia pulled down after one day

A South Georgia billboard calling for President Trump’s impeachment was taken down after one day.

Tom Hochschild, the man who paid for the Valdosta, Ga., sign, told WALB News that first amendment rights were violated when the Roger Budd Company took down his billboard.

“If you drive around South Georgia, you’re gonna see a lot of billboards with a lot of social and political messages,” Hochschild said Tuesday. “The problem is that some of these billboard companies only promote certain type of messages, and they seem to stifle other viewpoints.”

Hochschild is member of a group called “Georgians for the impeachment of Donald Trump.”

“We believe that he has committed some impeachable offenses and we want to explore that. We want to promote our group,” Hochschild said of the president.

Employees at Roger Budd, however, reportedly told him that the sign was taken down after other businesses threatened to pull their advertising from the company. The company did not comment or confirm its reasons to the news station.

The billboard was up for less than 24 hours, the news station reported.

Hochschild said he refused the refund that he was offered.

“Freedom of speech doesn’t mean that one political party gets to say whatever they want, or certain views get exposed and others don’t,” Hochschild told WALB. “Everybody should be brought to the table and all views should be heard.”

Billboards criticizing Trump have appeared all over the country, especially near his private beach club, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Springs, Fla.

Calls for Trump’s removal have renewed this week after his former longtime lawyer Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to charges including a campaign finance violation, implicating the president in the process.

Cohen did not refer to Trump by name during his court proceedings  on Wednesday but told a judge that he made two six-figure payments to women — adult film star Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal — at the direction of a candidate for federal office.
