Top White House policy adviser leaving post for ambassadorship
Domestic Policy Council Director Andrew Bremberg is planning to leave his post for an ambassadorship, the White House announced on Wednesday.
Bremberg, who has held his job since President Trump’s inauguration, was nominated to serve as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations office in Geneva.
{mosads}The move would leave another key vacancy on Trump’s White House staff.
At the Domestic Policy Council, Bremberg quietly played an important role in shaping the administration’s agenda on regulation and helped guide the Republicans’ failed attempt to repeal ObamaCare.
Bremberg previously served as an adviser to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and worked at the Department of Health and Human Services under President George W. Bush.
The adviser’s impending departure has been rumored since the summer.
The U.S. mission to the U.N. in Geneva is responsible for engaging with international groups on issues such as global health, trade, the environment and refugees.
It is currently overseen by a temporary leader, Mark Cassayre, a career diplomat.
