Kasich: Trump is ‘incapable of being a unifier or accepting any personal responsibility’

Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) on Thursday said President Trump bears the blame for the political divide in America and is incapable of being a unifier or accepting any personal responsibility.

Kasich, a GOP presidential candidate in 2016 who has emerged as a top Republican critic of Trump, made the remarks a day after authorities reported attempted bomb attacks on prominent Democrats and CNN.

“He’s not capable of being a unifier. In fact, I’ve become convinced he doesn’t know how to accept personal responsibility and always finds somebody else to blame,” Kasich told CNN.

Kasich said he was hopeful Trump would be able to unite the country. He also praised the president for his initial response to the incidents, in which Trump denounced the attacks.

{mosads}But Kasich said that attempt at unity was short-lived when Trump once again attacked the media on Twitter, calling the New York Times “Fake News” over its report on his use of personal cellphones that are susceptible to eavesdropping by foreign countries.

Kasich added that he is concerned about Trump’s rhetoric, particularly at campaign rallies.

“You rev people up and what happens? Somebody out there who is unstable does something crazy. And that’s what I think we are seeing here,” he said, adding that he fears “somebody on the edge that might do something very stupid.”
