White House to hold first press briefing in weeks

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Monday will hold her first press briefing in weeks.

The White House announced that Sanders will appear on camera at 2 p.m. to take questions from reporters inside the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room. It will be the first formal briefing since Oct. 3.

{mosads}Such briefings were once a fixture of the White House’s daily schedule, but they have largely disappeared in recent months as President Trump has decided to take his communications strategy into his own hands.

Sanders held one briefing each in September and August. At the same time, Trump has engaged in more question-and-answer sessions and interviews with news outlets in the lead-up to the November midterm elections.

Monday’s briefing comes at a fraught time for Trump, who is facing criticism over his heated political attacks in the wake of last week’s bomb scare involving prominent Democrats and a mass shooting on Saturday at a Pittsburgh synagogue.
